In my opinion the Sim2 Domino D60 is the best $8,000.00 projector on the market and it is only $5,000.00! There is no question this hits the sweet spot on the price for performance curve.
When trying to find a good projector it seems there are 3 factors that need to be looked at:
- The chip technology
- The quality of the processor
- The quality of the optics.
There a lot of better looking projectors on the market. If we look at the Sim2 C3X1080 every part of the projector is better. This 3 chip projector is in the 30k price range. If I have a theater enthusiast who is looking for a great experience in his theater and does not have the budget this is a fantastic alternative.
The Domino D60 uses the DLP technology. The Texas Instruments” DarkChip3 0.95″ 1080p chip set is used in its design, combined this will the TI’s Dynamic Black contrast-enhancement system, the Domino D60 delivers a fantastic picture. This DLP projector compared to other technologies will give you better black level and will not give you motion blur that other technologies will give you.
The processor is a good reason you need to look at the projector in action. You can talk about technology, bits and speed. But unless you look at the projector creating its picture, you cannot tell how good the processor really is. When you put in a Great blu-ray and when there is motion artifacts that were not part of the original you know the processor is not keeping up. The quality of picture for this price is fantastic. I have sold more expensive projectors that are not this sold. The Domino D60 is also compatible with all video standards including 1080p@24Hz.
The optics are really the heart and sole of any camera or projector. Anyone who has taken photo’s know that number of megepixels make a difference, only the lens makes all the difference in the world. One of the distortions you see in front projectors is chromatic aberrations. You can see this with text that in the corners the nice white letters break up into some of the primary colors like it when thru a prism. The Domino D60 does not show any of these effects of this common distortion you ususally see in projectors under $8,000.00. This projector also is fairly easy to set up and one of the features is the powered lens shift. The Iris adjustments also really help getting the black level correct and key to getting great colors.

Just wondering if this is a one chip or a three chip design. Your notes mention 3 chip and the light engine info says 1 chip…….which one is it?
